Manufacturing Methods: Most tiles are made by one of three basic methods. They can be extruded, dust pressed, or cast. The “green” tiles are then dried and kiln fired, resulting in a bisque, or hard clay body. Typically, the higher the temperature, the harder and stronger, less porous and better able to withstand extremes of temperature the tile will be. For unglazed tiles, the process is complete at this stage. Other tiles, however, are glazed and then fired again. This traditional process fuses the glaze with the tile. Some tiles are put through yet another firing to produce a particularly unusual glaze, color combination, or design. Talavera tiles have many creators among Mexican tile companies, but only Latin Accents offers both artistic handcrafted porcelain tile and traditional clay body ceramic tile for use in all climates and all installations.
